Chemotherapy, the next step in my treatment began on Wednesday. The day at the VA Hospital in Indianapolis was long. Arrived at 730 am, oral examination at 8am. Cleared for chemotherapy and moved upstairs to the Oncology Center for blood work. Waited until 1030 am to meet with oncologist, went over the who plan of treatment for the next 3 months. We agreed to try the chemotherapy that included Cisplatin, Gemcitabine, and Paclitaxel (Taxol) for 3 cycles and remeasure the tumor, and re-evaluate the next steps.

Everything I had heard about the 4 hours infusion of the JAMA chemotherapy was that I was going to be completely exhausted and nauseated. I can proudly say that at 630 pm upon leaving the VA hospital, I felt fine and even took my daughter to Coopers Hawk for dinner. The following 4 days have been met with just as much energy as I had immediately after the procedure. I truly believe it’s a mind over matter thing, that we choose how we are going to let things effect us, positively or negatively; and I will always choose POSITIVE!!!

Week 2 is fast approaching on Wednesday and I look forward to the challenge once again. To face the inevitable, with a smile on my face, a song in my heart, and the knowledge that God has graced with me with a strength that I never knew I had!!!

I remind you all to stay strong, and live everyday as if it were your last, for there are no guarantees in this life!!! Until next week…
